Cliff Cichowlaz,
Senior Vice-President of SOC LLC
and General Manager of SOC Hawthorne
Cliff
Cichowlaz is the Senior
Vice-President of SOC
LLC and General Manager
of SOC Hawthorne. Mr.
Cichowlaz, or Cliff as
he would rather be
called, has nearly 30
years of management
experience in technical
management, project
management, and
executive management.
Cliff’s lengthy career
began with a tour in
Viet Nam, where he
served as a Sergeant in
the 1st
Calvary Division and
earned many medals,
including the Silver
Star for valor. Shortly
after he returned home,
Cliff went to work at
the Hawthorne Naval
Ammunition Depot (NAD).
A decade later in 1980,
the Army contracted out
the depot and Cliff went
to work for its new
civilian contractor, Day
& Zimmermann Basil
Corporation (DZB).
Initially, Cliff served
as Manager of
Engineering and
following, became
Director of Conventional
Ammunition Logistics and
Demilitarization. In
1997, he was promoted to
President of the Day &
Zimmermann Hawthorne
Corporation, which runs
the Hawthorne Army
Depot. In 2008, Cliff
successfully helped his
business unit merge with
SOC-SMG to become SOC
LLC and assumed the
position of Senior Vice
President.
Cliff
has a passion for
excellence and is highly
skilled in forming or
restructuring and
motivating
cross-functional
organizations to achieve
financial and
non-financial common
goals. However, Cliff’s
favorite program is the
Mentor-Protégé Club,
which recognizes and
nurtures top talent.
This zeal for mentoring
and teaching stems from
his many years as a
part-time teacher for
Western Nevada College (WNC).
Cliff
is active in a variety
of civic and military
organizations including,
a strong commitment to
the American Legion,
Disabled Veterans,
Veterans of Foreign
Wars, and the Army
Association AUSA of the
U.S. Army.
Mr.
Cichowlaz holds a
Bachelor of Science
degree in Business
Administration from
Chapman College in
California.
Outside of professional
interests, Cliff travels
widely, golfs, races
cars, and enjoys living
in Nevada with his wife
and their two "Setters."
Spending time with his
six children and many
grandchildren are his
favorite pastimes!
Mr.
Cichowlaz was appointed
to the Commission on
June 4, 2009 and
reappointed in October
2010. His term
expires on October 22,
2014.
